What happens when?
What happens when your Jobseeker's Benefit payment runs out?
Jobseeker's Benefit is based on social insurance (PRSI) contributions and lasts for a maximum of 12 months. After that you may qualify for the other unemployment payment Jobseeker's Allowance which is a means tested payment.
The means test is a test carried out by the Department of Social Protection and is the main factor which determines whether you will receive a Jobseeker's Allowance payment and what the amount of that payment will be.
